ATTUNE 1.0 is Saturday, February 14, 4:30-7:30pm, Countywide. The crew behind DTLA’s inventive and wildly popular Luminex light spectacles turns this Valentine’s Day twilight into a citywide embrace, as its ten-site activation treats Los Angeles itself as a shared and synchronized experience. The ambitious interdisciplinary project unfolds simultaneously from Altadena to Expo Park, Santa Monica to South LA, Leimert Park to Porter Ranch, across an eclectic stylistic field where sound, breath, rhythm, and light align into moments of pure ecstatic listening. Choirs, meditative vocal flights, evocative sonic scene-setting, spoken word, and participatory audio-based art invite audiences to hum, breathe, and resonate together, collapsing the distances between performer and public, and between friends and strangers. The experience activates LA’s plethora of underutilized civic space while satisfying our taste for large-scale creative gatherings, and our love of art that is both futuristic and a little bit spiritual. Artists including Miguel Atwood-Ferguson, Beatie Wolfe, Odeya Nini, Carmina Escobar, Media Pollution, and a broad cross-disciplinary roster working at the intersection of music and acoustic ecology turning the city into a temporary rhizome of groove.
